This project was conducted by using the facilities provided by the Electronics Laboratory and the MAT workshop of QMUL.

In this project I envisioned a scenario that coffee enthusiasts experience daily, utilizing interactive technologies to make the movement of Moka Pot soundable.

The main function of the pot control part is to detect the state of the moka pot, such as whether the moka pot is placed on the metal shelf, and whether the lid of the moka pot is opened. By judging the state here, it can be inferred whether the user is making coffee or has finished making coffee, so that three different modes can be set: Stand by Mode, Enjoy Mode and Leave Mode.

The test results indicate that when the lid of the moka pot is closed (in Enjoy Mode), the distance measured by the sensor fluctuates between 12 and 13. When the lid is opened (in Stand by Mode), the distance increases to between 15 and 19. If the moka pot is removed (in Leave Mode), the distance should be greater than 26. In the production process, I also considered recording the water level height when the coffee was overflowing (with the lid open) and use this value to do some mappings. However, the measurements showed that the ultrasonic sensor is not accurate for recording slow changes in water level, so I have temporarily excluded this mode from the scope of this project.
